Moby

September 26, 2008

Just bought this song on Itunes!  It’s on the Bourne Identity movie soundtrack.  I love that movie series.  They are action movies with style.

San Francisco Wedding

September 23, 2008

Jeff and Janica got married at a gorgeous winery called Wente Vineyards outside San Francisco in the town of Livermore, California.  I know-it’s not technically San Francisco, but San Francisco sounds so much cooler!  Besides, the day after the wedding we went into the city and did a photo shoot of just the bride and groom at some great San Francisco spots like the Golden Gate Bridge, The Palace of Fine Arts, and on the famous trolley cars. It was so great to get back to my home state of California to photograph Jeff and Janica’s wedding.  I grew up only 2 1/2 hours from San Francisco.

Jeff and Janica are such an awesome couple-kind, caring, and not too bad lookin’ either!  It was a treat to photograph their wedding in such a beautiful outdoor location.  As we were driving around San Francisco the next day, I was having a heyday, seeing the endless opportunities for photo shoot locations!  I could go crazy there and never run out of new places to shoot.

Ooooh, Anthropologie

September 22, 2008

Butterfly Journal  Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior, The Early Collections  A Life In PicturesBrigada Jacket

When I step into Anthropologie, I’m transported to a fantasy land where I’m a little French, a little outdoorsy-opulent, I channel Audrey Hepburn, I’m a girl about town, everything’s breezy and fabulous.

I love their artsy installations.  They had hay in glass display cases.  They had oodles of lightbulbs hanging from jute string from the ceiling at different heights, grouped together.  I took pictures on my phone, but I’m not going to show them because I’m a prideful photographer and don’t want to show a crappy phone photo.  I want to make my own lightbulbs-en masse chandelier now!  For a chain store, Anthrolpologie sure does make it look like a one of a kind boutique!  The creative directors and buyers must love their jobs.

I was there the other day and got to spend my gift card from last Christmas from my husband, Todd, on the beautifully buttoned and detailed jacket, pictured below.  I was saving it for just the right thing.  Today, it’s rainy-a perfect day to wear it.  I also got a desktop Cavallini calendar of butterflies like the journal picture below.  I love Cavallini calendars www.cavallini.com.  They are these beautiful, linen paper calendars.  They’re big and have a amazing vintage postcard drawings for each month.  Last year I got two of the bird calendars-one for its intended purpose and one to cut up and frame for my walls.  I think I’ll get the Paris calendar for 2009 to remind me of my trip last summer.

Wedding: Salt Lake Temple

September 22, 2008

What kind of photos can you get with my Ceremony Collection package?  Check these out!

I had the pleasure of working with Cade and Nicole on their wedding day at the Salt Lake Temple.  They are such a good looking pair!  I loved Nicole’s red rose bouquet-simply classic.  You just can’t go wrong with red.  Cade, Nicole, and I met the day before their wedding to get to know each other a little before I took their photos on the wedding day.  It really helps to meet or do an engagement session together before the wedding day because everyone is more comfortable with each other and I can get to know you style before the big day.  I don’t want to just show up and say “Here I am, I’m your photographer!  You’d better comfortable in front of me and my camera-and quick!”.  Photos just come out much better if we know each other first.

I want to thank Nicole for her emails telling me how much she loves her photographs.  I can tell how much she really appreciates having these special documents of her wedding day.

I was excited when Lauren and Ernest contacted me about photographing their wedding at the Salt Lake Temple and their reception at Tuscany Restaurant.  Tuscany was on my list of places I wanted to photograph.  Besides, Ernest and Lauren are such a cool couple.  Lauren is a graphic designer and Ernest loves photography, so they really appreciate the art of photography.  Their Tuscany reception was lovely with purple and gold flowers and decor.

If you want to know more about weddings at Tuscany visit www.tuscanyslc.com or contact Anna, their wedding coordinator at 801-274-0448 or anna@tuscanyslc.com.  Anna’s great to work with.

Josh and Liz got married at the Salt Lake Temple and had their reception at the Gathering Place at Gardner Village.  Liz had every fun, bright color you could have-turquoise, hot pink, tangerine, and apple green.  I got to design her cute polka dot invitations and it made it easy having all those vibrant colors to work with.  Liz even made a Thank You sign that we used in a photo that I later made into a thank you card for Liz and Josh to send out to their guests after the wedding.

What I love about Josh and Liz is their fun, bright, sparkly personalities.  They’re a joy to be around.  Check out Liz’ dad shakin’ his groove thing.  I think Liz may get some of her spunk from him!

Videographer, Chris McClain and I worked side by side at the Temple.  He and I traded shot ideas back and forth.  Sometimes, it can be difficult to work with a videographer if you’re not on the same page or have similar creative styles, but Chris and I meshed quite well!  Check out Chris’ work at www.cmcclainproductions.com

Ty and Erin and I had the such a great time doing their engagement photos at the Great Salt Lake that I knew the wedding would be great.  They currently live in Chicago, but came back to Erin’s home state for their wedding at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.  The reception was at The Point Reception Center where I had my Utah wedding reception (got married in California) 6 years ago!  The Point is modern, elegant, and overlooks the entire Salt Lake valley for amazing sunset views.  As the name implies, the tall glass building is shaped like, what else, a point!  Ty and Erin had great, vibrant colors-hot pink with a little tangerine and apple green thrown in.  Great colors equal great photos!  Their luncheon was at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building so we got some dramatic shots in the lobby.  And yes, I did go a little ring crazy at the reception.  Congrats, Ty and Erin!

Old Meeting House Reception

September 18, 2008

Halley and Carol contacted me about shooting their wedding reception at the Old Meeting House in Holladay. It’s a nice, classic building that is great for a reception. Their color scheme was of an elegant purple which made for nice, rich photographs.  I was happy to get some lovely photographs of just the two of them outside before the reception.
