DON’T VOTE

October 7, 2008

[brightcove vid=1830029460&exp=1396519019&w=425&h=366]

You don’t think your vote makes a difference? What if it does? What if you were the one that made the difference in who is elected to office by Utah? What’s it gonna’ hurt? What do you have to lose? Take a half hour and go vote. What’s the big deal? Maybe it won’t make a difference in Utah, but what if it did? What if all the people in Utah who weren’t going to vote because they thought it wouldn’t matter, went and voted? Maybe it could matter. When you lie down and give up, we’ll never have a chance to change the political climate in Utah. You have to show that you’re here and that you want to make a change. Eventually, it will.

Whitney’s Bridals

October 6, 2008

Whitney wanted an urban look for her bridals and based on the engagement session I did with her and Jon, I knew I could make it a little fashiony.  We went downtown first and then, near sunset, we went up to the avenues for some above the city shots.  I loved how these turned out and so did Whitney!

Perfect moment-bride looking hot with hair blowing in the wind!

Oh, wow!  This wedding was gorgeous.  It was in Brittany’s grandfather’s 3 acre “backyard” near the mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon.  I had a field day taking photos and Dustin after the ceremony.  Thanks guys, for letting me steal you away from your reception for all that time!  It was worth it.  I knew that the photos were one of the most important things to Brittany, so I felt like I could steal them away for a little longer than usual.  Besides, there were too many amazing spots to shoot with them.  It rained just long enough to give us a double rainbow, too!

Their cake was really cute-there were like 7 of them!  It was an arrangement of smallish cakes and two of them were horseshoes!  Dustin wore a cowboy hat for the wedding day as well as Brittany’s dad and some of the other guys.  I really liked the old west romanticism it brought to the wedding.

The other really cool thing about the wedding were the families.  I was really taken aback by the affection, hugs, and “I love you”s that Brittany’s family had for each other.  It inspires me to make sure that when I have kids, we are an affection family that lets each other know how much we care.

Brittany is such a cute, sweet bride.  I loved this bridal session.  Wonderful bride, fabulous location, and gorgeous dress!  Her mom and sister came along and we all had such a fun time together.  Brittany had her dress custom-made locally by Penelope’s.

Nevada Wedding-party time!

October 2, 2008

I went to Elko, Nevada to photograph Rachel and Brandon’s wedding.  They live in Las Vegas, but Rachel grew up in Elko.  In Rachel’s words, she’s a “city girl with a country heart”.  They had a beautiful ceremony at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church near Rachel’s childhood home and had an awesome reception in a huge tent outside.  It was lit with lots of candles and adorned with red everything-a candy bar, cake, candles, menus, lots of flowers, and more.  Elko holds the national Basque festival every year and it was going on during Rachel and Brandon’s wedding weekend, so they had amazing Basque food.  After dinner, the reception turned into a big party-lots of dancing.  I even caught Rachel doing a keg stand!  The rest of the bridal party followed course as they should!  Rachel was so cute toward the end of the night, passing out her mini ice cream cones.  Before I knew it, it was 2:30 a.m.!  It was so fun, I didn’t realize it was so late.  Rachel and Brandon win the official award for latest wedding reception ever.
