Brittany and Braden | Salt Lake City Bride and Groom Portraits

Brittany chose to have Braden come along for her bridal session. That was a great idea. They opted to have a “first look” so that they could be surprised, making the moment they saw each other in all their wedding finery, really special.

These two are so much fun, that we spent A REALLY LONG TIME shooting this bridal session. Same thing happened on their engagement session in the 9th and 9th area of Salt Lake City.  They’re so easy going, and photos meant so much to them, that I got to spend time getting creative with some of the standard LDS Temple shots. By standard, I mean, the Temple steps, the reflecting pool, and “the pedestal”, as I like to call it. It was really hot, too, so we went inside the Joseph Smith Memorial Building for some dramatic images.

We were able to complete most of their shots around the Salt Lake Temple, so we didn’t have to be rushed to get those photographs on the wedding day between their sealing and luncheon. Boy, was that nice.

Oh, and check out Brittany’s shoes. Way to spice it up underneath your wedding dress, Brittany!

Winter in August! | Park City Engagement Photographs

I’ve been meaning to post this great session from back in December.  Sometimes (okay, a lot of the time), albums, portraits, and wedding edits take precedent over blog posts, so I have a little archive of sessions and weddings to show off.

John and Sarah are from Nashville, Tennessee.  John is a talented professional photographer himself, so when he contacted me to photograph his engagement session during their visit to Park City, I was flattered.  I also got to be in on a little secret.  John was going to propose the day before our session, on a horse drawn carriage in the snow.

John and Sarah were a joy to be around and the session couldn’t have been better.

Sk8 or die! Yeah, I grew up in the eighties | Jen and Jeff’s Engagement Photos

Jen and Jeff are easy-breezy.  They didn’t get caught up in all the trappings of wedding planning.  In fact, they decided to get married in Fiji with only their parents in attendance.  I really tried to get them to bring me along, but that didn’t work out, but I did get to photograph their engagement photos, bridal portraits, and Utah wedding reception.

We started with their engagement photo session, to which they brought their skateboards.  Jeff sped off on his every chance he got.  By the way, I did ride a skateboard back in the day and could even do an ollie–not too shabby for a girl. ;)  So, this fun shoot was right up my alley.

Oh, and a semi-truck hit me in the leg while I was photographing Jen and Jeff.  Sometimes, I get so wrapped up in what I’m doing, I forget what’s around me.  I was in front of the bay the driver was pulling out of and he didn’t see me.  It just left a bruise, but it definitely woke me up!

Laurel and Morgan | Salt Lake City Engagement Photos

Laurel and Morgan are getting married in about a week at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, with a reception to follow at a private residence in Holladay, Utah.   I really dig their style, so I’m looking forward to seeing their garden reception decor in navy and green, with a vintage feel.  Don’t you just love Morgan’s dapper vest and linen pants, and Laurels super-cute skirt?  The backdrop of this hidden nature park was perfect for a J.Crew kind of look for their engagement photo session.  See you two on August 12th!
