In correspondence with a groom named Joe, recently, he jokingly asked, “Are we good-looking enough for the Melissa Kelsey blog?”

Robyn and Jonathan didn’t let a little thunderstorm stop them from having a glowing wedding reception in the ballroom of the St. Regis Hotel in Deer Valley. After their mountainside wedding ceremony, the skies began to darken, the clouds grew, and rain began to fall. While the staff at St. Regis quickly re-set the reception tables and decor, that had been scheduled for outdoors, the guests moved inside for cocktail hour. If you ask me, they got the best of both worlds—their wedding ceremony in the mountain air and an elegant ballroom reception. Each had a distinct and look and feel.
What a beautiful night of hilarious and touching toasts, elegant decor, good food and drink, and lively dancing with family and friends.
I’ve been away from my blog for a while. Why? Well, wedding season tends to put me in a busy tizzy, where I spend most of my time photographing and editing weddings, designing wedding albums, and corresponding with clients. There is another big reason my blog took a back seat…a baby! For the last year, I’ve been figuring out this mom thing. Next week, the little apple of my eye will be one year old. Wow.
Naturally, there are less weddings in the winter, so I’m going to concentrate my efforts on marketing and you guessed it…blogging. I’ll be blogging everything from the last year (and maybe even from the year before), so get ready to see what I’ve been shooting!
You can’t make a post on a photo blog without a photo, so here’s one of my little family from Leisha Kelsey, my sister in-law. We swapped family photo sessions this year and I’m happy about that.
Starting tomorrow, be looking for new blog posts! Oh, and did you notice? I’ve freshened up the look of my blog for the new year.

Last summer, I was contacted by The Gateway marketing department about a wedding contest–The Gateway Ultimate Wedding Giveaway. I was asked if I’d like to participate as the wedding photographer for the couple who won the contest. I sure did! Sam and Brandon were the lucky winners. They competed in many wedding-related contests against other hopeful couples. Each of the contests were shown on Fox 13 News, with Big Budah there to comment on all the action. Viewers were asked to vote on The Gateway’s Facebook page, for their favorite couple.
