Michelle and Michael live in New York City, but came back to their home state of Utah to be married in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.  They had a simple, elegant reception at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and I really enjoyed photographing this photogenic couple.  It was just an easy, breezy affair that was a lovely celebration of the two of them.  They weren’t wrapped up in a million wedding details, and that was really nice to see.

Tom and Kristin were married at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.  They are a creative couple and played that up in their wedding attire.  A dear friend of Kristin’s made her vintage-inspired wedding dress and as you can see, Tom went for a Gatsby look with white pinstripe suit and hat.  As we walked around the Temple grounds making their wedding photographs, they received compliment after compliment by people who loved their look.  Random strangers were even taking Tom and Kristin’s photo with point and shoot cameras and camera phones!

I’d been waiting and waiting for the new issue of Utah Bride and Groom Magazine to come out. I was at the grocery store and saw it, the coveted issue! I grabbed three and proudly plopped them down on the check stand. The checker guy was a little confused, “You want three?” and I replied, “YES I DO”. You see, a couple of my photos were in the magazine.

It was my goal for 2009 to get in a local wedding magazine and I did it! I also got in the latest issue of Latter Day Bride Magazine. I must thank the lovely Brittany, one of my 2009 brides, whose dream was to work for a wedding magazine. She got her little self an article and 4 page spread! She asked me for photos for the article and I thought she’d use a few, but man, they’re all over that article! Thanks, Brittany!

And finally, a shout out to David Pilkington of Montauk Motion Pictures. He was featured on The Utah Bride Blog. I love working with David and especially like his romantic, artistic, vintage style.  Check out the beautiful video of mine and David’s mutual bride, Cassandra here:  Utah Bride Blog.  Thanks to David for mentioning me.

I am so thankful for the opportunity to be shown in these wonderful places. Thank you, Utah Bride and Groom Magazine, Montauk Motion Pictures, Utah Bride Blog, and Latter Day Bride Magazine! Also, thanks to my bride and grooms featured in those photos.

Kristin and Justin were married at the 1st Presbyterian Church in a beautiful wedding ceremony in September and had a lovely reception at The Point. Here’s a sneak peek of the wedding photos:

It was kind of strange to find that a photo of mine from my blog, had made it onto two wedding planning blogs. Those of you that are familiar with wedding planning blogs like Wedding Chicks or Style Me Pretty are familiar with the idea boards they feature. Well, mine made it onto one of those idea boards. I wondered where all those photos came from! I thought they were submitted by photographers, but turns out, most of them are copied from photographer’s blogs. It kind of feels like someone took something from me without asking, but I’m also grateful and flattered to be on these blogs. As long as I’m given credit and a link for these instances, I guess I’m okay with it. :)

I really really meant to wish all of my May 2008 brides and grooms a happy 1st anniversary in May, but it got away from me.  It’s wedding season and it’s a little crazy!  So, I hope these lovely couples will forgive me for wishing them “Happy Anniversary!” in June.   Thank you to these wonderful couples for allowing me into their lives on their all-important wedding day.

May

I have loved working with Chelsey and Mitch as well as their families. It’s all just so comfortable. Chelsey is gorgeous and Mitch is handsome and they know how to work it, so it makes my job easier.

Their wedding was at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple and the reception was at the beautiful, non cookie-cutter reception center, The Bungalow, in Pleasant Grove. I loved the grounds and the French bistro inspired interior as well as the wonderful staff at this family run operation. The flowers by Millie were so pretty in shades of plum and cream and the cake was simple and classic (Chelsey-get me the name of that cake maker!).

Please enjoy this slideshow of Mitch and Chelsey’s lovely wedding day.

Brandon Orton of Orton Films is my favorite videographer to work with. He and I have done many weddings together and recently we did Chelsey and Mitch’s wedding at the Salt Lake Temple and The Bungalow. Check out the awesome video Brandon did for Chelsey and Mitch. I’m almost done editing their wedding photos so you’ll get to see those soon, too. Look carefully toward the beginning and you’ll see me in the video, but I certainly don’t compare to how awesome Chelsey and Mitch looked that day. What a beautiful wedding and family who made me feel like I was one of them.

Happy 1st anniversary to these wonderful couples whose weddings I photographed.  I can’t believe it’s been a year for them already!  As they say, time flies when you’re having fun.

Kim and Shawn called me about 2 weeks before their wedding, saying that their photographer had bailed on them, something I would never do. I’m so glad that other photographer did, because I got to photograph their wedding. Kim and Shawn are totally laid back and totally in love, and it showed. They are also a little bit in lust, too. Check out the butt grabbing shots in the slideshow from their wedding day at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. There’s nothing better than seeing a couple who is really into each other and being able to capture photographs of their strong connection. Kim and Shawn each have children, Shawn has three adorable girls and Kim has one adorable girl. They seemed to have already become a great little family. The entire experience was enjoyable all around because of the simple, easy-going, loving atmosphere all around. Thanks for sharing this wonderful day with me, Shawn, Kim and girls!
